Obituary for Robert Clay Harrelson, Jr.

Denver - Mr. Robert Clay Harrelson, Jr., 72, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Levine Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville.

Mr. Harrelson was born on May 28, 1947 in Gaston County, NC a son of the late Robert Clay Harrelson, Sr. and Margaret Allran Harrelson. He loved sports and played, as well as coached baseball, softball, basketball, golf, and bowling. He graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill where he was member of Chi Phi fraternity and was a life long avid Tarheels fan.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Anne Harrelson Starnes.

Survivors include a son, Jeff Harrelson of Florida; a daughter, Kim Threatt of Denver; four grandchildren, Blake Long, Jordan Long, Parker Harrelson and Kayden Threatt; two sisters, Renna Long and Linda Helms of Cherryville.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, August 25, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church in Cherryville with Dr. Bill Lowe officiating.

The family will greet friends following the service.

Burial will be private.

Memorials may be made to to ALS Atrium Health Foundation - Pinstripes Fund.
